Current positions

I am currently working as an assistant professor at the Department of Language, Literature and Communication (Applied Linguistics) at the VU University Amsterdam. I am also lecturer for Proeducation.

I teach the following courses:

  • Taal en denken / Psycholinguistics
  • Specific language developmental disorders
  • Speech and Hearing / Phonetics
  • Statistics in Applied Linguistics
  • Language and Hearing disorders

Topics of Ma-Thesis projects under my supervision include:

  • The understanding of narrative text; the relation between textprocessing, working memory, vocabulary and phonemic awareness
  • Phonetic cues in hearing disorders
  • Audiometry in young children
  • Reading disorders
  • Noise exclusion deficit hypothesis
  • Language understanding in second language learining
  • Serious games for better hearing

From 2013 until 2017 I was the coordinator of the Minor Language & Hearing
